Small Group Training

Small Group Training in West Island Montreal

Small group training at Olympia Performance is coach-led athletic programming for 4-8 people working through the same session at the same time. You get the structure of a private session, the energy of a team workout, and access to our full 24/7 West Island facility — with a real coach on the floor watching every rep.

How does small group training at Olympia Performance work?

Sessions run 60 minutes with a coach leading 4-8 athletes through a programmed strength, conditioning, or HYROX-style workout. Every rep is watched. Every load is scaled to the athlete in front of the coach.

You sign up for a session block, get a written program, and train alongside others working at your level. The coach corrects technique, adjusts loads, and keeps the room moving. You leave with a measurable result — a heavier lift, a faster split, a cleaner movement — not just a sweat.

  • Group size: 4 to 8 athletes per coach
  • Session length: 60 minutes
  • Programming: written by Olympia coaches, progressed week to week
  • Equipment: full access to the 24/7 multipurpose facility — racks, sleds, ergs, dumbbells, kettlebells
  • Levels: scaled for first-timers through competitive athletes

Who is small group training built for?

Small group training fits athletes who want coached programming and accountability without paying for one-on-one rates. It works for weekend warriors, returning athletes, HYROX competitors, and anyone tired of guessing at their own workouts.

Returning athletes

Coming back from a layoff, an injury, or a busy decade. The coach scales every movement and rebuilds strength on a real plan.

Weekend warriors

You play hockey, run road races, lift on weekends. Small group training is the structured midweek block that ties it all together.

High Performance Training →

HYROX competitors

Race-specific intervals, sled work, and ergometer pacing in a group that pushes harder than you would alone.

HYROX Programs →

First-timers

Never trained seriously before. The coach teaches the lifts, scales the conditioning, and keeps the workout safe from day one.

Why train in a small group instead of a large class?

A 4-8 person cap is the difference between coaching and crowd control. The coach can correct your hip hinge, change your sled load, and watch your final set — none of which happens in a 25-person bootcamp.

What you get at Olympia

  • Direct coach attention every set
  • Loads scaled to your level, not the room average
  • Programming that progresses week to week
  • Space and equipment — no waiting for a rack

What you do not get

  • Generic boot-camp circuits
  • 30 people sharing one set of dumbbells
  • A different random workout every day with no progression
  • Coaches who never see your form

What does a small group session look like?

A typical 60-minute small group session at Olympia opens with a directed warm-up, moves through a primary strength block, and finishes with a conditioning piece scored for time, calories, or rounds. The coach demos, watches, and corrects throughout.

  1. Warm-up (10 min): mobility, activation, movement prep specific to the day's lifts.
  2. Strength block (20-25 min): a primary lift — squat, deadlift, press, hinge — programmed in sets and reps with loads chosen by the coach.
  3. Conditioning (15-20 min): intervals, mixed-modal pieces, or HYROX-style stations using sleds, rowers, ski ergs, and carries.
  4. Cool-down (5 min): breathwork and targeted mobility to recover for the next session.

Small group training — frequently asked questions

How many people are in a small group training session?

Olympia Performance caps small group training at 4-8 athletes per coach. That ratio is small enough for the coach to watch every rep, scale loads individually, and correct technique in real time, while still giving you the energy and accountability of training alongside other committed athletes.

Do I need experience to join small group training?

No. Olympia coaches train clients from youth all the way to ninety years old, and small group sessions are scaled to the athlete in front of them. First-timers get taught the lifts from scratch. Returning athletes get loads adjusted to where they are today, not where they were five years ago.

How is small group different from personal training?

Personal training is one-on-one with a coach building a session around you alone. Small group training shares one coach across 4-8 athletes working through the same programmed session. You still get coaching on every set, but at a lower per-session cost and with the energy of a group on the floor.

Does small group training include gym access outside session times?

Olympia Performance memberships include 24/7 gym access via electronic key fob. Members can train on their own program any hour of the day or night, and add small group training sessions on top. Talk to the coach during your free tour about which combination fits your schedule.
