HYROX Training & Race Prep

Train Hybrid. Race Ready.

Olympia Performance HYROX training in West Island Montreal prepares hybrid athletes for the global fitness race that pairs 8 kilometres of running with 8 functional workout stations. Coaches program structured race-prep blocks, drop-in classes, fitness tests and an in-house One-Run race event inside our 24/7 multipurpose facility.

What it is

What is HYROX and how does the race work?

HYROX is a global fitness race that pairs 8 kilometres of running with 8 functional workout stations performed in a fixed sequence. Athletes alternate one kilometre of running with one station — SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rower, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls — until all 16 segments are complete.

Because the format never changes, training translates directly to race-day performance. We treat HYROX as a measurable hybrid sport — running economy, station efficiency, transition pacing and energy-system management — not a random conditioning class. Every block is built around what the race actually demands.

What HYROX programs does Olympia offer?

Olympia runs four HYROX-specific products: structured race-preparation blocks, ongoing HYROX classes, the One-Run HYROX in-house race event, and HYROX personal fitness tests. Each tier matches an athlete's current goal — building a base, peaking for a registered race, or benchmarking progress between training cycles.

HYROX Race-Prep Blocks

Periodised 8-to-16-week blocks aimed at a specific HYROX race date. Running, station strength, transitions and race-pace simulation, programmed around your current capacity and recovery.

HYROX Classes

Coach-led group sessions that drill the eight HYROX stations and run intervals using race-spec movement standards. Suitable for first-timers and seasoned racers alike — every workout scales.

HYROX Personal Fitness Tests

One-on-one benchmark sessions to measure where you currently sit on each station, your run pacing and your weak energy systems — so the next block targets the right gaps.

One-Run HYROX Race Event

An in-house simulation of a full HYROX race on the Olympia floor — eight 1km runs interlaced with eight functional stations, against the clock. The lowest-pressure way to experience the format.

How does a HYROX race-prep block work?

Every race-prep block starts with a HYROX fitness test, then moves into a periodised plan that builds running economy, station strength and race-pace tolerance. Coaches retest at fixed checkpoints so progress is measured — not assumed — and the block adjusts to how you adapt.

  1. 1. HYROX Fitness Test

Baseline run pacing, SkiErg, rower, sled push and sled pull, plus the bodyweight stations. We learn your current ceiling on each piece before we touch programming.

  2. 2. Build Block — Capacity & Strength

Aerobic base running, strength work for sled and carry stations, and skill drilling on wall balls, burpee broad jumps and sandbag lunges. The goal is making weak stations boring before they cost you race time.

  3. 3. Specific Block — Race-Pace Simulation

Run-station-run combinations at goal race pace, transition rehearsals, and partial race simulations. This is where pacing strategy stops being theory and becomes muscle memory.

  4. 4. Peak — One-Run, Taper, Race

An in-house One-Run HYROX race event to dress-rehearse the format, a structured taper, and a race-week plan covering nutrition, sleep and warm-up. You arrive at race day knowing the script.

HYROX Training FAQ

Common questions before booking a HYROX tour, fitness test or race-prep block at Olympia Performance in West Island Montreal.

How do I start training for HYROX at Olympia?

Start with a free tour and a HYROX-style fitness test. Send a message through the contact form below or stop by 16869 Hymus, and we will walk you through programming options — group classes, personal training or race-prep blocks — that match your current fitness level and goal race date.

Do I need HYROX experience to join HYROX classes?

No HYROX experience required. Our coaches scale every workout — sled pushes, wall balls, burpee broad jumps, lunges, sandbag carries — to your current strength and conditioning. First-timers train alongside seasoned racers, with each athlete working at the appropriate intensity, load and movement standard for that day.

What is the One-Run HYROX race event?

The One-Run HYROX race event is our in-house simulation of a full HYROX race — 8 one-kilometre runs interlaced with 8 functional stations, on our floor, against the clock. It is the best test of your race readiness and a low-pressure way to experience the HYROX format before signing up for an official event.

Can I train HYROX outside scheduled class times?

Yes. Members with 24/7 key-fob access can drill HYROX stations on their own schedule — sled tracks, SkiErgs, rowers, wall balls, sandbags and dedicated running lanes are open every hour of every day. Coached classes provide structure and intensity; open-gym sessions let you sharpen weak stations between training days.

How long does it take to prepare for a HYROX race?

Most first-time competitors race-prep for 8 to 16 weeks depending on baseline conditioning. Athletes with strong running and strength backgrounds can be ready in 6 to 8 weeks. We start with a HYROX fitness test, identify your weakest stations and energy systems, then build a periodised block aimed at your race date.
